PNFS 7TH LONGER WALK 2022 - SILVERDALE TO ARNSIDE

Peak and Northern Footpaths Society Silverdale to Arnside walk.
Via Silverdale - Leighton Moss and Hall - Jenny Brown's Point Footpath FP14 Silverdale - Arnside Knott (6 walkers climbed up to the Knott and 8 walkers walked around it) approximately 11 miles walked on Tuesday 25th July 2022 one day earlier than scheduled due the railway strike action Wednesday.

This as to be one of the best PNFS walks I have ever been on.

This walk started at Siverdale Railway Station am and ended at Arnside Railway Station at after a couple of beers at the OLDE FIGHTING COCKS pub.

Oh! and we did stop for one at THE LOW HOUSE TAP too 3 miles from the end of this walk.

PNFS walkers visited signpost 605 which is at Jenny's Point in Silverdale. The sign celebrates the victory achieved in 2015 when the route in front of Jenny Brown's cottages was recognised as a right of way..

Victory at last after a 25 year struggle for Silverdale 14.
The dispute over Silverdale 14 rumbled on for 25 years. Finally, the Planning Inspector who presided over an Inquiry earlier this year confirmed the Order to reinstate the path in front of Brown’s Cottages. This will mean walkers on the coastal path will not have to scramble over the rocks which are regularly inundated by the sea.
The order is now being enforced by Lancashire CC. As the picture below shows the signs saying No Right of Way have been removed although there is still a sign saying Private Land. PNFS inspector for Silverdale and Arnside, Phil Feathertone, is sponsoring a signpost which will make it clear that there is a right of way over this property.
