Mazda 323 1989 1398 cubic cm Engine Compartment

Overview of the engine room showing all important parts and the running engine. It is a 1398 cubic cm with fuel injection, catalitic converter, electronic igniter controled by a inductive sensor and has about 67 hp. At the time the video was made the engine has run for about 190 tkm. During the time not mentioning the regular service intervals only minor parts has been replaced. Those are refurbished alternator, ignition module, passenger compartment heating valve and the battery several times. Original clutch, gear box. The engine is a free runner, that means in case the timing belt breaks down the pistons and valves won't damage one another, like in modern engines it is the case. However, the timing belt was replaced at about 100 tkm, tough it still was in a very good condition. A problem typical for this engine type is leaking gaskets of the cylinder head cover and the igniotor. With the time the ribbon materials wents stiff and damages the sealing capability. All the corroded screws are a problem, make sure you don't break the heads off!!!
