Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance (2003) is a hack-and-slash action game that transports the player to ancient Rome during a time of turmoil. After the death of Emperor Trajan, the empire falls under the corrupt rule of Arruntius, a tyrant who plunges Rome into chaos. The gods, angered by this decline, choose a gladiator named Invictus Thrax to rise up and restore honor to the empire.
