This is the viola part for the American Fiddle Medley, arranged by Bob Phillips. In this play-along performance and tutorial video, I play through the entire viola part with the metronome at half note = 90 or quarter note = 180.

This medley features the following fiddle tunes: Cripple Creek, Boil them Cabbage Down, Old Joe Clark and Soldier's Joy. This medley is in D Major and is arranged for beginning string orchestra.

Here are some practice tips from my tutorial:

Tip: For double-stops, aim bow in between 2 strings
Tip: Sliding 2nd finger - start with 2 near 1, then slide up to higher 2 with bow staying steady
Tip: For string crossings, use right arm wrist & forearm to cleanly cross strings
