Upon approach, officers immediately noted suspicious behavior from Karen, who appeared intoxicated and uncooperative. Karen violated Florida Statute 316.1925 for reckless driving, punishable by up to 90 days in jail and fines of up to $500. Refusing sobriety tests also violated Statute 316.193, leading to a potential DUI charge with penalties including six months in jail, a $1,000 fine, and a license suspension.

When asked for her registration, Karen hesitated, claiming her plates were new. However, they were confirmed as expired, violating Statute 320.07, which mandates current registration. Driving with expired plates can result in fines or misdemeanor charges. Further investigation revealed drug paraphernalia in her car, violating Statute 893.145, a first-degree misdemeanor carrying up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Despite her attempts to downplay her actions, Karen was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving, expired registration, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her entitled behavior, including blaming “cat dander,” failed miserably as officers upheld the law.
