CBS News Miami's Jim Defede talks with retired Lt. Col. Alex Vindman, the whistleblower who triggered President Donald Trump‘s first impeachment, about his announcement that he’s running for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Ashley Moody.

Vindman, a Democrat who is an outspoken critic of Trump, explains his decision to enter a crowded race for a crucial seat that could impact control of the senate. Vindman’s entry paid immediate dividends, as his campaign collected $1.7 million in just his first day.

He tells Defede that his decision to enter the race was based on the fact that he views Moody as being more interested in being a ‘yes vote’ for Trump and his MAGA agenda, than in serving Floridians.
