However, the judge explained that such a transition couldn’t be accommodated within the court’s withholding system. Instead, any new amount must be consistent throughout the year.

The judge clarified that if they didn’t agree, she could calculate the support based on the father’s $62,500 annual income, which would raise his obligation to approximately $665 per month. Realizing this, both parties agreed to the $550 monthly amount—half of the tuition—for the full year, avoiding formal child support.

They also discussed health insurance. The father’s coverage was better, and the judge allowed the mother to drop her policy, as the child would remain covered.

This case highlighted a cooperative co-parenting example, where both parties prioritized the child’s well-being and reached a fair agreement without extensive court involvement.
