On March 9, 2015, the demolition crews started knocking down the walls of the vacant Walmart in Round Lake Beach as well as some of the adjoining buildings that made up the Mallard Creek Shopping Plaza to make way for a new Meijer Supercenter. The crews had spent the last two weeks gutting the insides and salvage crews were busy separating whatever was useful.
