Today we are discussing the Rolex Cellini Prince, a manual-winding art deco-inspired piece. This piece was in production from 2005-2015 and has an ambience that is completely unlike anything in a Rolex catalog. At 26mm across the broad of the case and 9mm thick, the watch is worn well with a dress cuff. From lug to lug, the fit is similar to a 36mm Rolex Datejust.

The watch is cambered, matched with a curved sapphire. The dominant feature of the watch is the stylistic element on the dial and lugs. They emphasize the curvature of the case. The watch is finished with a double deployment and thin black alligator strap that nod toward a bygone element of elegance.

The watch has a separate dial for hours and minutes and small seconds. Art deco shaped watches were all the rage between wars and were largely phased out at the beginning of the 1950s. It was brought back in 2005 as an upscale flagship within the Cellini line. What really set this watch apart at the time was the display caseback. The model features reference 7040-3. The ratchet and crown wheels are clearly open for display.

A 70 hour power reserve makes winding an occasional pleasure. In addition, it is a COSC Certified Chronometer.
