In this video, I sing “Kahawi’Tha”, based on the version from Matriarch: Iroquois Women’s Songs by Joanne Shenandoah — a celebrated artist of the Wolf Clan of the Oneida Nation (part of the Haudenosaunee, or Iroquois Confederacy).

I’ve always loved rounds — how a single melody, layered with itself, creates something circular and deeply moving. This one captured me instantly.

I recorded this during the COVID lockdown in the Philippines, with very limited gear — but still wanted to share the magic of this song. I did use some pitch correction to help the round lock in better, but I hope to revisit it in the future with stronger vocals and no tuning.
