Chapter 7: The Summit (7A)
Variant Mode: Hiccups ON
Part 2: 2500 M - Summit (+ 0-strawberry ending)

So I finally completed 8C last week (yay!), and was looking through the New Game options when I noticed something called "[BETA] Variant Mode". Naturally, I was kind of curious, so I started a New Game, took a look through the Variant Mode options... and the one that immediately caught my eye was "Hiccups". =)

I tested Hiccups out a bit to see what sort of gameplay effect they had... and discovered that even though most of the time Hiccups would end up being a disadvantage... interestingly, there were also some ways in which they could actually be an advantage. ^_^

Which got me thinking... it might be fun (and/or aggravating!) to give them a try during an actual Chapter run. And I'd kind of been thinking about playing through Chapter 7 again (I like Chapter 7... among other reasons, because it has some of my favorite music in the game!), so...

Long story short:
- I started a New Game and did a test playthrough of Chapter 7 with Hiccups, just to see if it was possible.
- Some of the rooms seemed impossible at first... but eventually I figured out a way to solve each of them with Hiccups. ^^
- After verifying that 7A + Hiccups was indeed possible, I started yet another New Game... and of course had to use the name "Hiccup-eline". =)
- And so I recorded my second time through 7A + Hiccups.
- For this video, I cut out a LOT of the failed attempts... but not all of them!
- Despite everything that got cut, the video was still pretty long... so I split it into two parts.
- Due to a minor mishap, I accidentally deleted a couple files I shouldn't have... ^^; So I actually ended up having to re-record a couple sections. If anybody's curious, these will be pointed out in the notes below.

Anyway, despite the mishaps, annoyances, and aggravation of a Chapter 7 + Hiccups run... it was also a lot of fun. =) So anyway, hope you enjoy!

Part 2 notes and possible points of interest:

0:02 2500 M
0:11 Hiccups will slightly alter Red Orb travel direction... which can definitely cause problems (especially if the Hiccup happens early)! So when travelling via Red Orb, it's sometimes safer to dash out of the orb once you're close to your destination (something I don't do here, but definitely use later on!). ^^;
0:46 I had a lot of trouble with the first part of this room... until I remembered that Hiccups can actually help with jump distance. =)
1:58 The first time I got to this area, getting the key for this door actually seemed impossible, due to the combination of a narrow spike-lined passage, and Hiccups disrupting the Red Orb travel you're supposed to use to get through... but eventually I figured out that it's actually possible to use Hiccups advantageously to get through without having to use the Red Orb at all! ^_^ (Hiccup, Jump, Dash, Dash, Hiccup!)
4:48 Timing note: Try to time things to get a Hiccup right before grabbing the moving platform before the third purple orb.
5:57 I've had a Hiccup knock the Red Orb into the spikes here before, so this is a spot where you may want to Dash out of the Red Orb, just for safety. ^^
7:15 3000 M
7:21 (re-recorded this section (checkpoints 30-26))
15:02 Timing note: Try to time things to get a Hiccup on the fall right before the dash through the gap in the spikes...
19:25 Summit!
21:10 End credits
24:10 0-strawberry ending. =)
25:59 Hmm, not the best stats... but definitely a lot better than the first time through, when I was still figuring out Hiccup strategies and whether some rooms were even possible with Hiccups! ^^; I've gotten better with Hiccups since then, but of course, there's still a lot of room for improvement. =)
