KALAMSAT | World's Lightest and Smallest Satellite

Описание к видео KALAMSAT | World's Lightest and Smallest Satellite

KALAMSAT is a Femto Satellite and widely claimed to be the World's Lightest Satellite.

KALAMSAT was launched on 22nd June 2017 from NASA, Wallops Island facility in Virginia on a Terrier Orion Rocket (Sounding Rocket) and followed a sub-orbital flight.

This is the first time that 3-D printing technology is used to make satellites.
The purpose behind the launch of KALAMSAT was to demonstrate the performance of 3D-printed carbon fiber.
It is as small as a 3.8 cm cube.

KALAMSAT was on a sub-orbital flight, where we wanted to help decrease space junk and space pollution. It also is a motivating factor for aspiring student scientists to pursue a career in designing satellites and space research. A deeper understanding of this would make future missions more economical and reliable.

KALAMSAT was named after former president and Rocket Scientist of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

This is to encourage the student community into space research and explore more avenues in an
economical manner.

The competition was organized by IDOODLE LEARNING INC and COLORADO SPACE GRAND CONSORTIUM in partnership WITH NASA where we were the only team to participate from India.
