What Is Solubility?
Solubility is the ability of a substance (the solute) to dissolve in another substance (the solvent) to form a uniform mixture called a solution. It is usually expressed as how much solute can dissolve in a certain amount of solvent at a specific temperature and pressure.

✅ Solute
The substance that is being dissolved. Usually present in a smaller amount.

Examples: sugar in tea, salt in water.

✅ Solvent
The substance that does the dissolving. Usually present in a larger amount.

Water is the most common solvent (called the "universal solvent").

✅ Solution
A homogeneous mixture formed when the solute dissolves in the solvent.

Example: Salt water is a solution of salt (solute) and water (solvent).

Example:
When you stir sugar into a cup of hot tea:

Sugar = solute

Tea (mostly water) = solvent

Sweetened tea = solution
