River TRENT Club MATCH Fishing - Midland Angling Society - CAYTHORPE

This week I'm out match fishing on the River Trent at Caythorpe with the Yorkshire Bandit Angling Club. The fishing rights to this Nottinghamshire stretch of the River Trent are controlled Midland Angling Society and can be fished on day ticket for £5 or season ticket at £35 with parking available off the road directly behind the pegs.

The venue hosted a qualifier round of the popular and fiercely contested Riverfest competition the week before our visit and reports were, that for most, it had been a struggle. With me languishing in a lowly position in my club league, the plan for the day would be to start out fishing for a bonus barbel or bream on worm and heavy feeder tackle and if that didn't pay off then I'd switch to more conventional feeder fishing tackle to fish for bites down the middle of the river.

The other methods I chose to fish on the day were the 7m whip with a 1.5gr pencil float bulked with an olivette and a13ft match rod set up with a 4x4 stick float shotted shirt button style.
