Part 2: How To Prepare Tanuki Bonsai deadwood from Hollywood Chinese juniper.

Part two in our Chinese juniper tanuki project. We’ve previously shown how I striped off the dead foliage, and the next step is to continue paring down the unusable roots and defining the trunk. This can be done many different ways but I used a combination of secateurs, a powergear anvil lopper and a handheld chainsaw. In upcoming videos, we’ll demonstrate carving and complete bark removal, as well as deadwood, jin and Shari preservation with Lime Sulphur - with a special feature on maximizing your purchasing power for bonsai tools and supplies.
