The music of Epirus is a cultural treasure of immeasurable value to Greece. The New York Times has referred to this particular musical tradition as "The World's Most Beguiling Folk Music". Its huge and varied repertoire expresses feelings of joy and sadness, pays tribute to people no longer alive or to those living in foreign lands, and also celebrates life and nature.
