Trams (also called streetcars, trolleys, and light railways) used to be a major form of public transport in most large cities on the planet. But, in the middle of the twentieth century, governments around the world ripped them up in favour of cars. Now many cities are starting to rebuild theirs - Sydney included. But what lessons can we learn from Sydney's first attempt to revive their tram network, by converting a disused freight railway into a tram line?
