It can be a challenge to teach a horse an activity that requires some speed and quick maneuvering. What I like to do with cones is put out a set of cones in such a way that there are a lot of options so they are listening to what comes next. I have them work at some speed and then relax so it's just part of an activity we do together. If not, I have a very tense horse that believes they need to be amped up to go any time they see cones or obstacles.
