Cleveland National Forest- Laguna Mountains- San Diego County, California. On a late August morning, I decided to hike to a couple random peaks near Agua Dulce Trailhead, which I would soon find out to be in habitat restoration areas, closed for hiking. So, I decided to follow the legit trail down into Agua Dulce Canyon in a lush, tall forest of Cedar, Pine, and Oak. Seeing a loop opportunity, I then followed a trail up Escondido Ravine towards Red Tail Roost Parking area, eventually climbing a small hill in the area. Then, I left Red Tail Roost, hiked along a wide-shouldered part of Sunrise Highway (S-1) back to Wooded Hill Rd. where the Agua Dulce Trailhead is located, only to stop by Wooded Hill Nature Trail, and climbed Wooded Hill Summit, before returning to my car a little down the road at Agua Dulce TH. It was a fantastic 8.5 mile loop with 950' elevation gain!
