Playwright Mark St. Germain, inspired by Dr. Armand S. Nicholi's 2003 book "The Question of God", imagines a meeting between avowed atheist Sigmund Freud and Christian convert and writer, C.S. Lewis. With the men separated by a generation in age, "Freud's Last Session" is set at a penultimate moment for Freud, Lewis, and the world. On September 3, 1939, Freud is suffering through the last couple of weeks of his life, Lewis has yet to write some of his most famous literary works, and the world is creeping towards World War II, with unknown violence, pain, and grief only days away. In this acclaimed drama, Freud mysteriously invites Lewis to his London office and a debate about faith, the existence of God, love, human suffering, sex, and suicide ensues. Radio announcements about the unavoidable war punctuate the intense discussion. Each man defends his worldview with conviction, wit, and unexpected humor even as the world seems to be coming apart at its seams.

Directed by Terry Dobson, Theatre Three's production features Jac Alder as Sigmund Freud and Cameron Cobb as C.S. Lewis.
