Handling a Jazz Lead Sheet | All the Things You Are (Demo)

Описание к видео Handling a Jazz Lead Sheet | All the Things You Are (Demo)

I really want to help you play all the pieces you want when it comes to jazz. A common problem is that when you look at a lead sheet, it's just a bunch of chords and, if you're lucky, the single-note melody line. That's fine, you'll improvise and mess around with that anyway but the main thing is getting those chords down! Herein, using All the Things You Are, I show, via on-screen lead sheet image, how most songs are based on 6251, up a fourth and some kind of 5-1 or 2-5-1 onto a temporary (floating) root, which is not the master key but a note from its own major scale (in this case, onto the 3rd). I end with a few performance ideas but nothing too overwhelming. Hopefully you'll share your repertoire ambitions so we can discuss them in the comments!
