진해는 도시 전체가 벚꽃 천국이지만 그중에서도 ‘로망스다리’로 알려진 여좌천은 1.5㎞ 구간의 개천을 따라 늘어선 벚꽃나무가 일제히 꽃망울을 터뜨려 하늘을 뒤덮으며 절경을 이룬다. 경화역 철길 따라 늘어선 아름드리 벚나무에서 나풀나풀 흩날리는 새하얀 꽃비는 낭만 그 자체. 안민고개의 십리벚꽃길은 드라이브 코스로 일품이며, 제황산공원에 올라 진해탑에서 시가지를 내려다보면 중원로터리를 중심으로 100여 년 전 근대건축물과 벚꽃 군락이 어우러진 평온한 도시 풍경을 한눈에 담을 수 있다.
멋진 제복을 입은 군악대가 선보이는 절도 있는 군대 예술 퍼포먼스 ‘군악의장페스티벌’은 놓쳐선 안 될 군항제 속 또 다른 축제다. 평소 출입이 제한되는 해군사관학교, 해군진해기지사령부 등이 군항제 기간에만 특별히 개방돼 우리나라 대표 군항도시의 역사를 알린다. 축제 기간 중원로터리 일대에서는 전야제, 팔도풍물시장, 문화예술공연 등 다채로운 행사가, 북원로터리 이충무공 동상 앞에서는 충무공의 얼을 기리는 추모대제와 승전행차 퍼레이드 등이 펼쳐진다. 실제로 진해군항제는 1952년 우리나라 최초로 충무공 이순신 장군의 동상을 세우고 추모제를 지낸 것이 시초다.

Jinhae Gunhangje Festival is held in the areas of Jungwon Rotary and downtown Jinhae to celebrate the lovely cherry blossoms. Varied programs including a pre-event, cultural performances, a military performance, and others will take place during the festival.
