What was Zhu Xi known for?

Zhu Xi, also known as Chu Hsi, was a preeminent scholar, classicist, and a first-rate analytic and synthetic thinker. He is best known for creating the supreme synthesis of Song-Ming dynasty (960-1628 CE) Neo-Confucianism. Zhu Xi's work and teachings had a profound influence on Chinese philosophy and culture, and his ideas continue to be studied and revered to this day.
