Chordplay - The Chords Of Santana

Описание к видео Chordplay - The Chords Of Santana

Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Chordplay with The Chords Of Santana. I've noticed a number of requests to feature more of Santana's music, and while there was a Three-For-All lesson posted last year taking a look at some of his licks, this episode centers around the interesting chord-based ideas hiding in Santana's legendary Latin-flavored rock music.

The examples in this lesson were pulled from the first three Santana albums - 'Santana' from 1969, 'Abraxas' from 1970, and 'Santana III' from 1971. There's something organically special about the early Santana albums, especially when he was working alongside future Journey bandmates Gregg Rolie and Neal Schon during the early 1970s.

The chord-based song examples in this lesson include complete rock classics such as 'Evil Ways,' 'Oye Como Va,' and 'No One To Depend On,' along with some lesser-known deep cut action from tracks such as 'Treat,' 'You Just Don't Care,' 'Soul Sacrifice,' 'Taboo,' and much more! This lesson uses a lot of partial and implied chords, and also reveals some of the mystery surrounding modal chord progressions, as Sanatana loves using the Dorian mode (along with Aeolian and Phrygian). If you're curious about tackling some of the modal sounds found and heard in music - this eye-opening lesson is for you!
