The Rotterdam Market Hall (Markthal Rotterdam) is an iconic mixed-use building that has become one of the city's most popular attractions since its completion in 2014. Located in the Laurenskwartier district, this horseshoe-shaped structure combines a vibrant indoor food market with residential apartments, restaurants, and retail spaces. The building was designed by the renowned architectural firm MVRDV, and it reflects Rotterdam's contemporary and innovative approach to urban design.

One of the standout features of the Market Hall is its immense arched ceiling, which is adorned with a stunning piece of artwork called "Horn of Plenty" by artists Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam. The colorful mural covers 11,000 square meters of the interior, depicting oversized fruits, vegetables, and other food items, creating a visually striking experience for visitors shopping at the various stalls below. The Market Hall's design is also practical, with the residential apartments built into the exterior curve of the arch, offering views both inward over the market and outward over the city.

In the post-war era, Rotterdam embraced modern architecture to rebuild, and the Market Hall is a symbol of that ongoing urban transformation.
