Budgeting Bonanza: Apps that Make Cents

Description: One massive tool in a Financial Coach/Counselor’s tool chest is a budget. The trouble is that the marketing material for budgeting softwares are for the end user, not coaches/counselors. It can therefore be difficult for new coaches/counselors or even existing ones to understand if it is worth their time to learn a new tool. In this session, we will do an overview of 4 different softwares: 2 for Zero-Based Budgets (a self created Spreadsheet & YNAB) and 2 for Non-Zero Based Budgets (Tiller & Monarch). The session will not leave you being an expert in any one tool. It will leave you thinking more broadly about how to evaluate tools as a coach/counselor. You might even realize that the ideal tool for you might not be the best tool for your client!

Learning Objectives:
Understand that there is no “right” budgeting software to become expert at and use with clients
Get a brief overview of 4 softwares: 1) a self-created Spreadsheet 2) YNAB 3) Tiller 4) Monarch
Identify features that will support your coaching approach/business model
