Tesla is officially sending its AI-powered Optimus humanoid robots into the world. The EV maker is using its new retro-style diner as a testing ground as it races to mass produce the much-anticipated humanoids.

At the same time, one of Tesla's biggest threats in China, the rising EV maker Xpeng, is doing the same in its showrooms.

Amid the rapid-fire developments, yet another startling viral video is raising concerns about the rush to get smart machines into workplaces and the home.

The retro-futuristic Tesla Diner, first conceptualized by Elon Musk in 2018, combines a 1950s-inspired dining experience with a modern electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The Los Angeles location includes 80 Supercharger stalls, two large LED movie screens that play classic film clips and Space X launch footage, with audio synced to Tesla vehicles.

Designed for around-the-clock operation, the restaurant offers classic diner fare served in Cyber truck-shaped boxes or metal trays. Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robots appeared in viral footage from the diner’s soft launch. A Tesla Bot was seen serving popcorn and interacting with guests.
