How to Create a Skybox in Unity (Simple)

Greetings, in this Unity tutorial we shall be looking at how to create a simple skybox in Unity. All you need for this Unity skybox tutorial are some square images, between 1 and 6 for 1 skybox.

In this Unity skybox tutorial we shall be looking at creating a six sided sky box. We will be replacing the default Unity skybox with our custom skybox.

Firslty make sure you have the images you wish to use for the skybox are imported into your Unity project. These should be square shaped for the best look.

Next you want to make a new material which will be used to store our skybox, you also want to make sure this material is using the 6 sided shader as we are making a six sided skybox in this tutorial.

Next we need to assign square images to each part of the skybox. You assign the images in any way you like and you can preview what the skybox will look like in the preview image below.

Now you need to go to your lighting settings and set the skybox material to be the material we have just made.

Lastly, for your camera you need to make sure it can render the skybox. Go to your camera and check on the dropdown menu next to "Clear Flags". Set the value to be skybox. This ensures the camera will render the skybox.
