Hi, I am Dez Blanchfield, and I was at the Health Information Systems Symposium 2019 (HIMSS) in Orlando. I had the honour of being joined by Maria Lensing, the Vice President of Healthcare Solutions at AT&T. I asked Maria to talk about what AT&T is doing in the healthcare space and what the industry as a whole is doing. In this space comes a lot of challenges like hospital infrastructure, mobility, network, high costs, and more. I talked about how in this case, AT&T can help other healthcare providers with their healthcare practices and help them focus on their work by solving the major challenges. Maria talked about the announcement about virtual reality and augmented reality in the hospital environment and why they partnered with VITAS.

Moving ahead, Maria shared other announcements AT&T had with regards to the HIMSS event, which included bringing educational topics into reality, 5G technology, etc. I asked Maria to talk about what she thinks are the big shifts taking place with the challenge of digital transformation in the healthcare industry.

Maria Lensing shared her views about the trends we will be seeing in the healthcare industry in the coming 3 to 5 years and how it is going to be on a patient’s term which will include doctors using applications to manage data wisely and keep track of the patient’s whereabouts, involvement of retailers, latest and updated technology, and more.
