My Physics Degree with a hint of a Computer Science degree in ~15 minutes

Описание к видео My Physics Degree with a hint of a Computer Science degree in ~15 minutes

I will tell you how earning this degree helped my problem solving skills to help me solve software engineering problems
⦁ I will also tell you how you can emulate these problems solving skills to help you be a better problem solver whether that be as a software engineer or in any other career
⦁ There is a reason that Elon Musk majored in physics in college - you get to have a great understanding of the world
⦁ Of course this doesn't translate directly to building rockets or self driving cars but it is a decent start
Before I graduated, I always joked around and said I had a theoretical degree in physics
⦁ if you get to the end of this video, you too will attain a theoretical degree as well
⦁ I say hint of computer science degree because I was one class away from getting the minor and at that point I took probably the most important class for computer science majors - data structures and algorithms
⦁ I didn't want to finish the computer science degree because I would have had to spend like another year which I didn't think was worth it
⦁ It probably would have helped me find a job though instead of having to go through a coding bootcamp that placed me with a job
My physics degree started before college when in highschool I took 17 AP exams and loaded up on my College's maximum credits which for UF at the time was 45 credits
⦁ this got rid of most of the gen ed requirements like biology, english, chemistry and calculus
⦁ My advisor reccomended me to take honors physics instead of using my credit for physics
⦁ My first semester I took physics 1, chemistry 2, programming 1, and calc 2
⦁ My second semester I took programming 2, physics 2 and lab, calc 3, differential equations
⦁ I think I took a Matlab class since it was useful for physics majors to model data
⦁ French 1 , computational linear algebra, theoretical physics, E&M 1, intro to modern physics,
⦁ E&M 2, Mechanics 1, engineering writing
⦁ Number theory, discrete math
⦁ Computer organization
⦁ advanced physics lab 1, data structures and algorithms, optical physics, biological physics
⦁ quantum mechanics, thermal physics, intro. to elementary particle physics
⦁ Mechanics 2, advanced physics lab 2, statistical physics
