today we're going to do some quick polls and surveys at the beginning to ask you where you are with some of these things
we're going to continue on our five-step process this time we're doing our analyzing and our acting and there's a
lot of stuff we're going to be doing in power bi managing data looking at answers taking away what our takeaways
are and then we're going to summarize this whole process everything from soup to nuts how we got started and where we
finished who is association analytics we keep bringing this up because i hear people
tell us all the time we were on that webinar but i have no idea who you were so we are association analytics we're a
solutions company right here in arlington virginia with our main goal of helping associations
leverage their data right understanding that we have a lot of data in multiple systems whether it's our survey results
our retention numbers our event attendance our community data our email marketing data all these topics we've
been talking about and it's hard to get insight out of that data and we need a trusted partner to work with that does everything from data
governance data cleanup and quality integrating our data together and providing visualizations that help us
make decisions and that's where we come in as a partner to help do all that stuff...
how does your association utilize survey data right
so we don't we're using a native function in our survey tool we're using excel
we're using power bi we hire some consultants how do you guys do that what's your process for doing it
tell us in the radio buttons there pick the one that applies best
and while you're doing that if of course if you do something other than that right then tell us about that in the
chat so this one is kind of more focused on the tools that you use if
any so we're talking about how do you analyze here okay let's go and take a look
okay so we have a small minority seven percent say that we
don't well you're in the right place right for those people there a lot
of people are using the native functionality in their survey tool so that's the biggest one at 36 percent so
i think there's a lot of utility in that another 29 almost 30 are using excel the
number one analytics tool you know for all associations that's in air quits
yeah some are pushing things out to power bi or tableau so that's about 20 of the people and so that's what
we're going to do that's kind of what we recommend there are some advantages to doing that and then 10 just over 10 percent higher hire
experts to handle everything for any surprises there greg
you know more people than i thought are already using power bi and consultants i thought it would be way more excel heavy
okay for their industry event they use a consultant but for the short surveys they serve them i find that's
probably really common right we do a lot of surveys throughout the year we use one tool for some surveys we use a
consultant for other surveys where we need their you know expertise makes sense yeah so i think that's kind of
the sweet spot for us like the kind of things that we'll be talking about today it's you know you
definitely want to take it seriously you want to prepare you want to pray if you want to market you know but this is not necessarily you know like your big
annual survey right that you want to hire uh an external consultant for i'm right this is the
you know more of like the standard for something like that right in the absence of something long
and serious like that you can still get some good results by using surveys on like a smaller
so the next question here is how do you share the data so you know we talk with a lot of associations who do surveys and
my next question is what do you do with that data do you email specific answers to specific
individuals bill you ask question 10 here's your answer do you send out a link so everybody can
see all the results do you present a small group of people look at the data and then present it to
the larger team is this a big collaborative effort where everybody from all these departments is in a big conference room talking about
it discussing what's going on or does it just sit on the virtual shelf and collect dust where do you
how do you do your data analytic i know analyzation here what do you do to understand it
i can tell you which one we did because i was in that meeting not too long ago
so surprisingly i was able to vote in this poll but not the first one
