This fall students at Roxborough Intermediate decided to focus their Community Impact Project on the needs being created by their rapidly growing community. With the construction of Sterling Ranch close by, the kids ultimately decided to focus on the needs of wildlife in our area.

They decided to create a Certified Wildlife Habitat on school grounds, through the National Wildlife Federation's Schoolyard Habitat Program.

The habitat will serve several purposes. It will be a safe place for wildlife, an outdoor learning environment for our students and community, and a way to share important wildlife information with others. It will include a bird garden, nature trail, and native flowers and plants to attract wildlife.

After months of planning the students took action on Earth Week, installing bird gardens, laying stepping stones and planting wild flower seeds.

"This has been an incredible experience for ourselves and our students," said Roxbourgh Intermediate Teacher Jessica Craig.
