Habitability of Exoplanets

Описание к видео Habitability of Exoplanets

In this lecture we discuss the habitability of planets outside our solar system. We introduce the spectral sequence of stars and their relative properties and numbers in the galaxy- information useful for targeting the types of stars most likely to have habitable planets orbiting them. We show the distribution of exoplanets known to date (about 4000). Then we discuss the Earth Similarity Index (ESI) and highlight several earth-like planets. Finally, we discuss how we measure the habitability of these planets. We end with a discussion of the galactic habitable zone.
