Hello and welcome to the Quaysidebench Live Stream. One camera is above a Southern Railway of BC train yard in New Westminster, BC, Canada. Above the yard, our elevated automated rapid transit system called the Skytrain can be seen every couple of minutes going in either direction. The trains going to the right are going to either Surrey or Production Way, next stop New Westminster Station. The trains going to the left are going to Waterfront Station in downtown Vancouver, next stop at 22nd Street Station.

The other camera is focused on the Fraser River near the New Westminster Train Bridge. This Is known as the North Arm of the Fraser River. Offscreen to the right is Poplar Island and Poplar Channel, to the left on the other side of the train bridge is the South Arm and Annacis Channel. There is an abundance of tugboat traffic in this area, tugs towing barges and log booms can be observed frequently. Also watch for fishing boats at work from time to time. Arrivals flying into Vancouver International Airport can be seen going from left to right.

Countless trains and cars come and go through the train yard, or sometimes sit for days. The yard is frequented by Canadian National, Canadian Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe locomotives and is a staging area for larger trains departing from Greater Vancouver...
