Man walks through a field of cotton. C/U of cotton buds. The buds are opened by hand to show the cotton. Men and women pick the cotton buds. A large pile of cotton - men throw handfuls into the air. Top shot of a large flock of sheep moving through the countryside. Two men watch their progress. C/U of two sheep - possibly Merinos. Moving shot of many pens of sheep. Men shear sheep. C/U of the shearing tool in action. The fleece is wound up and tucked in to make a ball. Top shot of two men inspecting a large amount of fleeces. Panning shot. Silk worms in C/U. They nibble at leaves. Worms weaving silk. C/U of a cocoon of silk. Cut open to show the worm inside.



A field of flax. Men on a tractor harvest the flax. Inside a processing plant we see the flax being fed through a machine. Graphic animation of the machine shows how the flax is crushed. A woman collects the flax as it emerges from a machine. Spinning technique is illustrated. The fibres are carded then made into small rolls. Hand spinning method using a weight. Spinning wheel is illustrated. Also larger spinning machines in a mill. C/U of revolving bobbins. Weaving processes are illustrated. C/Us of looms - woman works at a loom. Graphic illustration to show how a loom works. Warp and weft are indicated as are the heddles, the shuttle and the reed. The illustration is animated. Men inspect cloth. Finished fabrics are displayed. We see linen, silk, wool and cotton in C/U. Shot of people walking in the park.
