In this video, I swatch and test the Caran d’Ache Studio 15 Gouache Set for the very first time—and it’s also my first-ever experience using gouache. I go in with zero expectations, no prior knowledge, and a lot of curiosity.

As I swatch each colour, I share a voice-over of my observations: how the paint feels, how it behaves with water, how opaque it seems, and what surprises me along the way. This is very much a beginner’s first impression and exploration, not a polished review—just an honest look at what it’s like to try a new medium and palette for the first time.

I also make notes and questions throughout the process that I plan to test in future sessions, which makes this video a great starting point if you’re new to gouache or thinking about trying it after working with watercolour.
