Here is a video all about playing and interpreting written conga parts in the Motown style. I recently played the Broadway show Aint' Too Proud for a week and I show you some of these parts. I also explain the way I interpret grooves that are notated in a simple rhythmic form that does not specify particular conga sounds and techniques.
The congas I am using are 1980's Gon Bops.
