We stayed at Ryugon in Minamiuonuma, Niigata Prefecture JAPAN.

Muikamachi is a heavy snow area. Ryugon was founded in 1969. It was reborn as Ryugon on the 50th anniversary of its founding.

Eight old houses were relocated to the site of 4,000 m2, and the inn was renovated in a modern style. The valuable buildings, including the registered tangible cultural property, were reborn as comfortable spaces. There are old-style rooms and detached rooms, but we chose the old-style room to enjoy the atmosphere.

Original sofas designed exclusively for Ryugon are placed in various places in the building, and the open space overlooks the vast grounds and courtyard. The sofas in the image of snow huts are my favorite spots.

The meal is "Kitaguni Gastronomy" inspired by the menu of the northern country. In addition to "Yukiguni Tose" inspired by the preserved food of the northern country, wonderful dishes such as roasted Niigata wagyu beef are served. The rice was, of course, a specially grown Koshihikari rice from Uonuma, which is the best brand in Japan. We enjoyed this northern delicacy.

The hot spring water is drawn from Muikamachi Onsen and is built in a tasteful earthen storehouse. You can view the garden from the open-air bath. There is also a sauna, making this a rare hot spring inn that sauna lovers can enjoy.
