This is how you can watch movies in much better quality, than it is normally possible on Quest. You need $20 HDMI capture card and smartphone or smart TV stick. I like to use it with PD USB Hub, because this way headset can charge at the same time. I explain everything in the video. All links are below.

With my mod, everything works in FullHD with a good bitrate. Normally streaming services can have max 720p no matter if native or sideloaded. Only streamings without DRM can have more (so nothing with normal cinema movies or TV shows, only Youtube). This is a result of Widevine DRM. Quest do not support Widevine L1 in Sideloaded apps, resulting in a drastic decrease in quality.

The USB Camera app and Quest HDMI Link don't have such limitations, because they are not intended for playing Netflix or similar services. I added that function through a separate hardware.

This work also on Pico 4. I didn't have to change any Smart TV options, but at some point I did it anyway (1080p@60Hz, no HDR, 12 bit color).

BTW. For tests HDMI capture card is enough, you can connect it to your Smart TV at home with HDMI cable. I didn't have enough time to test smartphone instead of smart TV, but I will do it in the future with follow-up video.
