On September 1, 2013, Christian Mayberry was involved in an ATV accident that would change the course of his life forever.

Christian went out to "the bottoms" near the river in Muldrow, Oklahoma to hangout with a few guys that he considered to be friends. He was riding on the back of an ATV, while a friend's mom was driving.. unfortunately, she was intoxicated. The ATV eventually crashed as a result of reckless driving, and Christian (who wasn't wearing a helmet) was ejected from the vehicle. The driver of the ATV left Christian's lifeless body laying in a ditch and fled the scene of the accident. Before leaving, they covered Christian's body in alcohol to make it appear as if he had been drinking and driving the ATV himself. They left Christian laying in the ditch for 3 hours before calling for help.

When Christian arrived at the hospital, he was in dire condition. Local doctors did not expect him to make it, and told the family to prepare for the worst. The decision was made to Life Flight Christian to Tulsa, Ok for further care.

Christian's mom, Kim Mayberry, was on vacation in Mexico when she received the devastating news of the accident. Kim immediately began packing to fly home, but unfortunately there were no available flights until the next day. She was traveling with her daughter, who suggested that they take a walk on the beach to pass the agonizing wait. During their walk, Kim encountered a tiny blue cross right in her path in the sand. This could be nothing other than God letting her know he is watching out for her. As they watched a storm roll in over the ocean, Kim's daughter took a photo. They later discovered that this photo showed only one set of footprints.. God was carrying Kim through this storm.

In the year that followed the accident, countless doctors told the Mayberry Family not to get their hopes up. Teary-eyed nurses gave their condolences as they predicted that Christian would never walk or talk again. Kim refused to accept this diagnosis.. she was believing God for a miracle, and would not accept anything less.
