Nebraska is the #1 producer of great northern beans in the nation. Approximately 85% of all U.S. production occurs within 75 miles of Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
According to a 2018 University of Nebraska Economic Impact study, the Nebraska dry bean industry had a $158.4 M State economic impact and created over 665 statewide jobs.
Historically, Nebraska is the third largest producer of all dry edible beans in the U.S. In 2022, Nebraska producers averaged 2,300 pounds per acre on 108,100 acres for a total production of 2.486 million hundredweight bags – or more than a billion servings!
