On June 8, Vermont Rail System's regular Saturday slurry train ended up included 24 loaded salt hoppers and two loaded LPG tank cars, as well as 37 loaded limestone slurry tanks. At 63 cars, the train weighed in at 8,190 tons for the trip up and over the Green Mountains on trackage that reaches 2% grades in some locations. With the SD70M-2s out of service, a six-unit four-axle consist was put together for the trip, that included Vermont Railway GP40-2 307, GP40-2L 310, GP38-2 202 (Washington County paint), Clarendon & Pittsford GP40-2 306, Vermont Railway GP40-2 308 and Clarendon & Pittsford GP38-2 204 (off-line but available) to round out 14,000 active horsepower for the trip. The train was followed from Rutland to Bellows Falls and back to Rutland again with video captured at various locations as identified.
