Sirheni, the S 56, and an Unbelievable Pride of Thirty-seven Lions

Our many, many years of visiting the Kruger Park have left us with some profound memories, few more special than a pride of thirty-seven lions we found on the S 56 near Sirheni Bushveld Camp. The s 56 is one of the most scenic roads in the park, replete with huge, old, and beautiful indigenous trees; frequented by leopards, lions and buffalo, and providing chance encounters with three of the awesome exotic antelope, Eland, Roan Antelope, and Sable. Giraffe and elephant are of course also frequent visitors to this exceptional road. Starting at Babalala Picnic site, it winds along the banks of two rivers, the Mpongolo and the Shingwedzi and culminates on the H1 6 near Shingwedzi Rest Camp where you can stop for tea or a delicious cappuccino.
