At a Knesset ceremony on Thursday (21/08) marking the 100th anniversary of Zionism, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticised the Palestinians for not honouring the
peace agreement and restated Israel's non-negotiable stance on the status of Jerusalem.
Jews from all over the world participated in the ceremony, among them American actress Fran Drescher, known for her role in the sitcom "Nanny", and Nobel Peace Prize winner Eli Weisel.

can change it. I think that despite all the obstacles we will move forward and are moving forward to an inevitable reconcilation of our neighbours with us. This is something that
is happening and perhaps the hardest part is ahead of us. The easy part is behind us. Egypt, relatively easy. Jordan, relatively easier. The departure from Gaza, easy. But now we're approaching what in chess is called the end game, that's always the most difficult part. We are approaching those issues that have existential meaning for us, one of them we spoke about - Jerusalem, and you know our policies there. But the issue of borders, the issue of water, all those issues that are so central to defining our future and securing our future, those stand before us. We received a set of agreements and we honoured them, because we keep contracts. But we expect in order to be able to resolve this most difficult negotiation in the history of our nation, we expect that our neighbours, the Palestinians who entered as peace partners in this process, that they too will keep agreements. And the first and most essential obligation they took upon themselves is to fight the terrorist organisations in any territory that came into their domain. And I can say that promise has not been fulfilled.";
