State-owned Canara Bank reported Rs 1011 crore net profit for the March quarter against Rs 3259 crore loss in the year-ago period, riding on a sharp rise in both core and other income, and fall in provisions. The bank's net interest margin improved to 2.75 per cent for the quarter and net interest income came in at Rs 5,589 cr vs Rs 3,318 cr YoY. Total provisions stood at Rs 4134 cr vs Rs 4324 cr QoQ while other income came in at Rs 5,207 cr vs Rs 2,174 cr YoY.
