The name “Traction Avant” is actually French for front wheel drive. While this may have not been the first front wheel drive vehicle, its efforts to perfect the front wheel drive platform are what we hold in such high regard. It paired its front wheel drive platform with a unibody chassis and four wheel independent suspension. The combination of these three main ingredients produced a strong yet lightweight car that was low to the ground and handled exceptionally well for its time. While there are many fine details underneath the hood, the main reason you will fall in love with this car is purely because of the way it looks.
