Strengthening Local and Regional Leadership for Resilient Territorial Development in Latin America and the Caribbean

The 2025 Meeting of Regional and Local Authorities brought together local and regional leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean in Punta Arenas (Chile) to discuss local leadership and innovation for resilient territorial development in the region. Over the course of two days, the event featured plenary sessions, thematic panels, and working groups focused on productive transformation, territorial planning, science and innovation, and employment opportunities in emerging sectors.

Organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Regional Government of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica, and the Ministry of Finance of Chile, the meeting included two full days of activities on March 20 and 21, 2025, with four thematic sessions, three working groups, and one field visit.

The event also included the participation of twelve national and international experts, five national authorities, five IDB officials, and at least thirty-five local and regional leaders from fourteen countries in Latin America and the Caribbean—reaching more than sixteen million inhabitants through the knowledge and experiences shared.
