Volunteering in Switzerland | Davos | Hiking| Workcamp

My name is Kate and I’m an international student residing in Budapest and a traveler with 33 visited countries and desired to see as many countries as possible.

Here I decided to share with you my SCI (“Service Civil International”) volunteer experience in Swiss mountains.
This type of volunteering called “work camps” in other words it is an international space for people of different origins and cultures to meet, while volunteering and working.
This projects give to participants food,accommodation, all the necessary tools and instructions for projects.
Sometimes in such projects you live in a tent but sometimes in an individual room so it is important to check it in advance before applying.

It was not my first experience as a work camp volunteer.
I’ve been volunteering for 4 years and within work camps I’ve been experiencing it in 5 more countries.

Our Swiss projects was beyond all of my imagination. Our tasks for the project was dedicated to gardening where we’ve been working in an historical Botanical garden “Shatzalp” where Thomas Mann was staying and working on his novels.
I was staying in single room in a Shatzalp hotel in the same way as other 6 volunteers. Our meals were provided to us from the restaurant cooks that’s why our meals were well balanced and tasty.
Our tasks were random starting from shaveling the rocks ending up with cutting and digging out the flowers.

Within 2 weeks of volunteering and my 3 weeks in Switzerland in total I can say without doubt that this projects opened to me a lot of new opportunities and give me an amazing people with whom I’m still in touch!
