Lecture 1: Why does Augustine Matter?: How to Talk About Yourself

Inaugural speaker, Rowan Williams, Archbishop (emeritus) of Canterbury, discusses St. Augustine at St. Michael's Abbey in Silverado, California. The first of two lectures explores "How to Talk about Yourself."

Rowan Williams was born in Wales and studied theology at Cambridge and Oxford. He has written widely on early Christian thought (including a collection of essays on Augustine), and on the Eastern Christian tradition, especially Russian religious thought. He taught theology for many years in Cambridge, Oxford, Bristol, and Yale, and also served as Bishop of Monmouth in Wales, and later as Archbishop of Canterbury.
