Clacton-on-Sea is at the end of the A133 road, which goes from Clacton to Colchester.

The town has a train station called Clacton-on-Sea, which is the end of the Sunshine Coast Line. This line connects Clacton to Colchester, and the other end is at Walton-on-the-Naze, which is on a branch from Thorpe-le-Soken. Trains are run by Greater Anglia and usually go to London Liverpool Street via Colchester and Chelmsford. The whole trip takes about 90 minutes.

Local buses are run by Hedingham & Chambers. They stop in Colchester, Harwich, Manningtree, and Walton-on-the-Naze. First Essex stopped serving Clacton in January 2020, and now Hedingham & Chambers are the only ones that go to the town from Colchester.

National Express runs long-distance bus services to and from London and Liverpool.

Clacton Airfield has been around since the Royal Air Force used it during World War II. It doesn’t have regular passenger flights. In the 1990s, the airfield was in the BBC TV show Airport

Clacton-on-Sea, or just Clacton, is a seaside town and resort in Essex, England. It’s on the Tendring Peninsula and is the biggest town in the Tendring District, with about 53,200 people (2021). It’s about 77 miles northeast of London, 40 miles east-northeast of Chelmsford, 58 miles northeast of Southend-on-Sea, 16 miles southeast of Colchester, and 16 miles south of Harwich.

Clacton has a rich history. It was originally part of the parish of Great Clacton. The seaside resort started growing in the 1870s and was called Clacton-on-Sea to set it apart from the older village nearby. Great Clacton and Clacton-on-Sea were always run together, forming a single urban district called Clacton between 1895 and 1974. Over time, the two settlements merged into a single urban area.

The town’s economy is still heavily based on entertainment and day trips. It’s strong in the service sector, with a large number of retired people. The northwest part of the town has two business and industrial parks. In the wider area, farming and jobs related to the Port of Harwich provide more employment opportunities. Clacton is part of the United Kingdom Parliament

Clacton-on-Sea is situated between Jaywick and Holland-on-Sea along the coast. The original village of Great Clacton, now a suburb, lies to the north. The local authority is Tendring District Council.

Clacton-on-Sea was founded in 1871 by Peter Bruff as a seaside resort. Back then, the only way to get there was by sea. Steamships from the Woolwich Steam Packet Company docked at Clacton Pier that same year. Now, the pier has an amusement arcade and lots of other fun stuff to do.

If you wanted to drive to Clacton, you had to go through Great Clacton. In the 1920s, they built London Road to handle all the holidaymakers. Later, in the 1970s, they opened the eastern part of the A120, so Clacton visitors no longer had to go through Colchester.

Clacton has a Blue Flag beach at Martello Bay (there are two more nearby at Dovercourt Bay and Brightlingsea). Clacton Seafront Gardens, which run along the top of the seafront west of Clacton Pier, also got a Green Flag. They have different sections with formal gardens, memorials, and places to sit.
